Here at The Forum Orthodontics, we strive to achieve the very best orthodontic treatment results for our patients, and that all starts with the very best impressions to help correctly diagnose and map treatment. Fortunately, we have state-of-the-art technology to help us achieve this.
Futuristic orthodontic technology
Each of our patients all start their journey at The Forum with a bespoke treatment plan. Once you have decided to commence with orthodontic treatment, we make sure the appliance you have chosen – whether it’s fixed braces or Invisalign – is tailor-made for you. Before we can do this, we first need to take impressions of your teeth.
Impressions give us and our specialists an exact image of your teeth, highlighting where they are sitting at the moment and helping us to identify any orthodontic concerns or issues. Some practices take these impressions using sticky orthodontic cement. However, here at The Forum we use state-of-the-art technology to gain these impressions, like the iTero Element IntraOral scanner.

Keith Jackson left his native Northern Ireland in 1980 to commence his study of Dentistry at Newcastle University, completing his degree in 1985, taking with him as well very happy memories of his time in the North East.
He decided to continue his dental education, developing more advanced skills - initially at The Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, followed by Doncaster Royal Infirmary and finally The Birmingham Dental Hospital. After this four-year period of post-graduate study, he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow. Keith began his practice career as an associate at The Riversdale Dental Practice in Gainsborough and had the opportunity two years later to buy the practice from the existing owner – who was heading back to the Emerald isle.

What is the iTero Scanner?
The iTero Element IntraOral scanner is a handheld, digital scanner that allows us to get a precise impression of your teeth. Using a small wand-like device, our team are able to capture a 3D model of your teeth and gums. These images can be viewed immediately on a computer so you can see how your teeth and gums are currently sitting, and what treatment needs to be undertaken to get them into a more aesthetically pleasing position.
As the device is small, the process of gaining these impressions won’t cause our patients any discomfort – we will move it carefully around your mouth to ensure we get the full view of your mouth, teeth and gums. Once the 3D images have been captured, we’ll use these to custom make your orthodontic appliances.
The iTero Element IntraOral scanner is especially effective when paired together with Invisalign treatment. The impressions we take of your teeth and gums can be inserted into the Invisalign Outcome Simulator to show you what your teeth will look like after you have finished Invisalign treatment!
